I've been contemplating consigning in a physical store since before the New Year. However, as I had no experience with consignment, my preparation was quite slow. One day, while attending a gem appraisal class, we, a group of classmates, went for lunch together. That's when I noticed a classmate joyfully purchasing a pair of jade earrings, and out of curiosity, I approached her.
To my delight, she shared that she bought them for resale as part of her small business venture. My heart raced with excitement! Wasn't I looking to connect with someone in the jewelry business? I immediately seized the opportunity to ask all my questions!
To my surprise, she enthusiastically and thoroughly answered each one.
I boldly introduced my own jewelry line to her. She appeared intrigued and even tried on my newly crafted ring. I was already thrilled by her friendly and informative responses. Later at home, I received a message from her. She suggested I share some photos with her clients, as the crafting process of handmade jewelry takes long lead time, and photos could help increase visibility. Perhaps someone might be interested in placing an order before the Chinese New Year. And just like that, my first consignment journey began smoothly!
While I'm still in the process of fine-tuning the photos, this marks a celebratory beginning for me. (Her clients requested more photos, showing the jewelry being worn or in a jewelry box... I also need to quickly arrange for physical samples!)
On that day, I was wearing the ring shown in the pitcure. It's the most delicate design in the Foundation series and was the first to be crafted. We added intricate textures to the ring's surface. My aim is for it to be recognized as a simple yet elegant choice for everyday luxury, and a timeless classic that endures. Receiving the finished ring was a moment of immense joy for me. The expert artisans had flawlessly set 0.06-carat diamonds onto this beautiful ring, perfectly realizing the refined texture I had envisioned. Its subtle shimmer in the light is a constant reminder of the joy and fulfillment this craft brings.
